Samsung SCH-i830 communicator sports EV-DO, thumbboard

Samsung today unveiled several new handset models including the Windows Mobile powered SCH-i830 communicator. Offering quad-band CDMA with EV-DO for fast data transfer speeds, the slider form factor device is a successor to the SCH-i730 which made its official debut at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Equipped with a QVGA display and running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, the SCH-i830 mainly differs from its predecessor through the inclusion of quad-band GSM and CDMA support, remaining otherwise identical to the SCH-i730. This includes its 2.8-inch QVGA display and integrated thumbboard, as well as 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of non-volatile memory.

Other highlights of the device include Bluetooth support, as well as an SDIO capable SD/MMC card expansion slot and dual stereo speakers with SRS TruSurround, speakerphone capabilities and more.
