GX-91 Gundam Destiny: Huge Robot

The GX-91 was the final product of the GX Series, and as such was the culmination of over 60 Years of Mobile Suit Research. The GX-91 cockpit is a 360 Degree Panoramic Cockpit, the first of its kind. It is formed by facet shaped screens that surround a spherical cockpit area. Video information taken from hundreds of camera's in its outer armor is combined into a complete view of the space around the mobile suit. Bandai's Gundam robot goes life sized

Japan's largest toy manufacturer is about to get life sized with the unveiling of a 5-foot tall Gundam. Bandai feels the worldwide recognition of the hit show Mobile Suit Gundam will garner big interest from 20- to 40- year old men, i.e. fanboys, otaku, whatever you wanna call 'em. The 77 pound robot has 14 movable body parts right down to its finger joints, and emits a plethora of sound effects (yes, the Vulcan fires too) while you remotely control his fear-inducing flashing eyes.  (1412 clicks)

BEAR robot carries injured soldiers to safety

Although Stephen Colbert hates bears, he might actually go for this one, given that it's designed to save lives, not destroy them. The Battlefield Extraction and Retrieval Robot is a new bipedal droid designed to carry injured soldiers off of the battle-charred landscape as far as an hour's distance. What's more, its lower legs can fold down to roll away on tank treads, which seems a vast improvement over the previous spider-like designs that we've seen lately.  (1171 clicks)
