Pentax A20, M20: digital cameras packed with automatic features
Sunday, 03-September-2006, 19:49:00 Pentax has come out with a pair of new digital handhelds in the Optio line, the A20 and the M20. One is a touch more professional than the other. The A20 is a 10-megapixel shooter packed with features designed to compensate for picture-takers' frailties. First and foremost is the Shake Reduction technology, which has the unique idea of gyroscopic sensors to hold the device in a sort of constant movement that compensates for any movement caused by the (shaky) hands holding the camera. The result is sharp images even when the camera is in motion. (1474 clicks)
JVC Everio G Series: No disks, No tapes
Sunday, 03-September-2006, 19:35:54 The JVC Everio Series digital media camera is a revolutionary HDD camcorder that stores video and images on an internal hard disk drive. JVC envisions camcorders of the future as hard drive devices that don't require removable media such as miniDVD discs, DV tapes, or media cards. They will also be really small and light.
Indeed, the Everio like GZ-MG30, GZ-MG37, GZ-MG77, and GZ-MG505 are just that?a compact hard-drive-based camcorder. The body is quite small, at 2.7 by 2.8 by 4.3 inches, and it weighs just a bit more than 13 ounces with battery. But if JVC really wanted to make this the camcorder of the future, the video quality would need to improve. Right now, this innovative approach to home video does not justify spending so much for such mediocre images. (1473 clicks)

The crazy kids at Sunphoto are at it again with yet another cameraphone attachment, this time letting you take pictures of things (or people) without pointing your camera directly at them. A couple of SELPHY printers from Canon
Sunday, 03-September-2006, 18:55:04 When the world first started switching over to digital cameras, leaving their film-based picture-takers in the recycle bin, everyone wondered how you would go about getting high-quality prints. Sure, you could take it to the local photo lab, but more and more people are opting to print at home with their own high-quality printers. The SELPHY line from Canon has been leading the charge in simple, home photo printing, and now they have got a couple of new additions -- the CP720 and CP730 -- both of which are compact and easy to use.
